Denim lovers will undoubtedly know that a brand worth its salt can be measured on the quality of their Type I trucker production. And we’re pleased to say that ONI has stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park with their first attempt. Yes, this is the first Type I that this legendary brand have put into production and it is packed with heritage detailing. Much like the originals, the 01507NIXX is cut short in the body and features a boxy shape which we might not usually expect from the brand.
Traditional donut buttons, a cinch back, punched copper rivets, double felled seams and a deerskin leather patch all stand as a testament to this jacket’s heavy-duty credentials. But it is in the brilliantly unique fabric that we find that ONI’s innovations. The 17oz denim has been woven on vintage shuttle looms, on a super loose weave to create a perfectly imperfect ‘slubby’ texture. But never ones to be outdone, the brand have treated the yarns to a natural indigo dye, which will result in beautiful fades over time. One single breast pocket adorns the front and traditionally stitched in pleats line the selvedge button plate in that iconic style that we all know and love. This is a brilliant iteration of a denim legend and truly brings a design from the early 20th century into the modern-day.
